Change in Residence: Part 2 – Oklahoma to Gallup, New Mexico

Day three went pretty much by the numbers.  I had to stop a few times for cat naps, but overall I made good time, covering western Oklahoma, the Texas panhandle, and most of New Mexico.  I’ve landed in Gallop, about 10 miles from the Arizona border.  It was much cooler out, so I spent a pleasant evening about 15 feet from a railroad behind a TA Travel Center.

I didn’t really make any stops, but I’ve decided that it is against natural law to drive through Amarillo without stopping by the Cadillac Ranch for a few minutes.  This was my second visit.  Go here for the lowdown on my first.

Day 44: From Amarillo to Oklahoma City

I accomplished both of my goals in Texas and have now finished th first leg of a long drive through flyover country.

My day started though along Route 87 in Northern Texas. I got into Amarillo a little after nine and after a bit of searching, found the Cadillac Ranch:

Day 43: From Denver to Dalhart, Texas

I wandered a bit in Denver today. I woke up rather late and spent an inordinate amount of time updating the blog, so I found myself with not much time to do much else. From what little I did see, the city seems to be a pretty nice place. There’s a lot of eccentric architecture, a very swanky convention center, and other signs that there’s a lot of money floating around, which would bode well for job markets and the like.
